HISTORY

In December 2025, the Tobyhanna Township Supervisors Adopted a Data Center Overlay District on the Pennsylvania Glacial Till, LLC. property on Caughbaugh Rd, in Blakeslee, between Route 115 & Locust Ridge Road (Arrowhead Lake).  This property is adjacent to the
Lehigh River

This overlay ordinance was created for the benefit of a single property owner to the detriment of all the other property owners in this rural residential zone..

This, by definition, is considered spot zoning and is illegal.

This is urgent.  The county’s largest industrial complex  — up to 3 MILLION square feet of data center buildings – is proposed for the northwestern section of our township If our group’s legal challenge to the data center overlay is successful, data centers will not be permitted in our rural community.

Protect Rural Tobyhanna Township is a group of people who are battling the township’s decision to create a zoning district that permits data centers in the midst of our rural community.  We have filed a legal challenge to the township’s new Data Center Overlay in order to preserve and protect the character and pristine environment of Tobyhanna Township’s rural and conservation areas.
